After getting my degree in Mechanical Sciences at Trinity I followed a career in Civil Engineering, culminating in founding my own practice as a
Consulting Engineer in partnership with Geoff Reed – the firm was Hannah, Reed and Associates. Various structures around Cambridge have our
stamp on them. We were also responsible for all Center Parcs work for the last 25 years.
I retired quite early – in 1997 – became a gliding instructor in what was then the Cambridge University Gliding Club (now the Cambridge Gliding
Centre). 5 years ago I qualified as a town guide – what people erroneously call a blue badge guide, when for Cambridge it is a green badge. Hobbies
include wood turning and model flying.
Married to Carolyn, two daughters who both have Cambridge degrees – law and history – and four grand children, the oldest is now in her first year at
Pembroke College.
