Exploring Dementia Research with Dr Shahid Zaman
Members and guests of the Cambridge Business & Professional Club gathered at Queens’ College for our latest lunch, welcoming guest speaker Dr Shahid Zaman, Associate Lecturer, consultant neuropsychiatrist and neuroscientist in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge.
Dr Zaman’s research focuses on dementia in people with Down’s syndrome, helping to deepen understanding of the biology of Alzheimer’s disease and the changes that occur before symptoms appear.
His career has taken him from medical training at the University of Sheffield to a PhD in molecular neurobiology in Cambridge, followed by a Wellcome Trust Fellowship at Cold Spring Harbor in the United States.
Following September’s World Alzheimer’s Month, the lunch provided a valuable opportunity to bring dementia research into our professional community and reflect on its significance for individuals, families and carers.
We warmly thank Dr Zaman for sharing his time and expertise, and all our members and guests for joining us for an afternoon of learning and conversation.
